Silent concert on the sea ice

A live concert on the frozen sea, heard through headphones, with the shoreline lights on the horizon.

  4. AfterThe walk back, while it sinks in.

What to know

  • Sea ice near Helsinki isn't reliable every winter. The plan B is a stage on the shoreline.
  • Ice is measured on the day, and we only go out when it's safe.
  • Headphones keep the ice silent, for neighbours and wildlife.

Good for

One-off brand moments and unforgettable evenings.

Not for

Plans that can't move at short notice.

Questions planners ask

Is it safe to stand on the sea ice?

Only when the ice is thick enough, measured on the day, on a marked area. If it isn't, the concert moves to the shoreline.

What if there's no ice that winter?

The shoreline version runs instead. It's still a concert by a frozen-looking sea, just with solid ground underfoot.

Why headphones?

Sound carries far over ice. Headphones keep it intimate for the audience and quiet for everyone else.
